Job Responsibilities

Performs bank and general ledger account reconciliations on a monthly basis

Responds to internal and external inquiries concerning accounts and reports

Develops and maintains a tracking system for the College’s capital and operating leases

Compiles and analyzes financial information for maintaining and tracking accounts, reconciliations, closing, report preparation and other confidential records

Prepares various financial reports, documents and analyses; Reviews and balances financial reports; Identifies, researches and reconciles account and report discrepancies

Assists with external financial reporting such as compiling information for bond disclosure agreements and comprehensive annual financial report

Assists internal and external auditors in their work related to assigned accounts

Anticipates and meets customer needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction

Handles and provides training on chargeback functions, Banner table maintenance entries, document scanning and auditing, and monitors control reports on a daily basis

Assumes ownership of the Accounting department’s document scanning, indexing and filing processes; Performs audits of the documents for accurate scanning, indexing, and filing as needed

Assists in College Foundation and Capital Asset Accounting, as needed

Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the College’s accounting operation

Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting, Finance, or related field and/or a minimum of three years of general accounting experience including bank and account reconciliations

Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team

Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Ability to effectively respond to requests from multiple levels of the College in various departments

Possesses basic knowledge of fundamental GAAP concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

Demonstrated intermediate Banner System (or equivalent program) skills

Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access (or equivalent software)

Advanced-level proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel (or equivalent software)

Willingness to take initiative, prioritize and perform proactively

Possesses strong organizational and time-management skills

Possesses excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively

Ability to research and analyze issues and develop solutions

Ability to prioritize/handle multiple tasks and work with deadlines in a dynamic environment

Works accurately with great attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

CPA-eligible candidate

Demonstrated proficient experience with Access or Oracle application

Experience in applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and concepts

Work experience including bank and account reconciliations

Accounting experience in the public sector; Familiarity with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and relevant Office of Management & Budget (OMB) Circulars

Experience handling personally identifying information within a controlled environment to eliminate risks of identity theft

Work Schedule

Standard College hours of operation, M-F 8:30am – 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends as identified by supervisor.
