(2) PART-TIME EDUCATIONAL AND CAREER ADVISORS: The Center for Adult Education Programs and Preparation, (CAEPP) Anticipated Start Date: Immediately.

  • ABE/Transition: 17.5 hours/week; 20 weeks- 350 hours. (Days/hours to be determined)

The Educational and Career Advisors will provide, coordinate, and document all advising, and provide learners with support services and guidance to assist them in meeting their educational and career goals. He/she will reach out to students; schedule in-person meetings; and communicate with students in a variety of ways, including small group/class sessions, electronic communication - email, text, social media, and phone.  A flexible schedule is required in order to meet with students.


  • Provide education and career planning and advising for post-secondary education/training and employment opportunities.
  • Assist students to: identify long and short-term goals, develop an Education and Career Plan (ECP); and measure progress in attaining goals.
  • Support and advise students to ensure student persistence.
  • Monitor student’s educational progress and goal achievement quarterly through regular check-ins and meetings, beginning at enrollment.
  • Document and maintain all advising in a confidential electronic record.
  • Collaborate with teachers, during staff meetings, to ensure that student goals inform instruction.
  • Provide group instruction utilizing lessons from SABES Integrating Career Awareness (ICA) and the MassCIS website; include career searches, job growth trends, and training/education needed.
  • Communicate accurate, organized, up-to-date outreach/recruitment/registration/ retention data to Coordinator and Executive Director at least bi-monthly.
  • Collaborate with Transition Coordinator to arrange college services for the transition students - Including meetings with college advisors, presentations from financial aid officers, tour of college library, college workshops, etc.
  • Collaborate with Valley Works Career Center staff.
  • Collaborate with the Data Specialist to provide appropriate, student goals information and to ensure that the results of goal follow-up are entered in SMARTT.
  • Collaborate with NECC Enrollment/Academic Counselor.
  • Assist students to identify life issues that may need support from either college or external resources and to access those resources (e.g. childcare, transportation, disability/health issues, domestic violence, housing, food/fuel assistance, mental health issues,
  • Use current labor market trend information to inform student career choices.
  • Assist Coordinators with intake, assessment, recruitment.
  • Attend required staff meetings and professional development as required.

Salary: $26.00 per hour, no benefits
