Natural Sciences Academic Chairs are faculty who will teach a reduced class load and will be responsible for the staffing and management of the laboratory facilities on their home campus. In this role they will hire laboratory student workers and be the supervisor of the laboratory specialist for their home campus. The Chair serves as the “face of the Natural Sciences Department” on their campus and hires, develops, and manages the part-time sciences faculty on their campus. They also are the contact person for academic issues that arise on their campus.
The Dean for Natural Sciences is responsible for the hiring, development, and management of full time faculty on all college campuses. The operation of the department is a collaborative effort between the Dean and Campus Academic Chair.
Academic Chairs on all campuses work with the Dean as the Natural Sciences Leadership Team to coordinate activities, curriculum, and course offerings on all of the St. Petersburg College campuses.
The successful candidate for the Academic Chair position at the DT/MT campus will meet SACS qualifications to teach in the Biological Sciences area.
The successful candidate will meet SACS qualifications to teach in either the Biological Sciences area or the Chemistry area.
Academic Requirements: Master's degree in Natural Sciences discipline
