Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit Institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Applied Linguistics in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, beginning fall 2015. The position is at the level of Assistant Professor. Ph.D. in hand by May 2015 is required. Candidates should demonstrate successful teaching experience at the university level and show initial scholarly achievement. Native or near-native fluency required in both English and Spanish. The successful candidate will specialize in second language acquisition and one or more of the following: Spanish linguistics, Spanish sociolinguistics, computer assisted language learning, or heritage language learners. Responsibilities include research, teaching and service. Courses include beginning and intermediate Spanish language courses; advanced undergraduate Spanish courses in the candidate's area of expertise; and graduate seminars. Ability to teach Spanish for specific purposes (medical, business) and/or translation is desirable. Teaching load is 2/2. Service responsibilities include language course coordination, TA training and active participation in the Division, Department, A&S College and University Committees.
