Under the direction of the Writing Center Coordinator, tutors students with writing tasks (individually and in groups) via face-to-face tutorials or online. Addresses the needs of diverse learners and implements various instructional/tutorial strategies and techniques. Leads and/or mentors other tutors. Attends weekly training meetings.
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree OR any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totally two years.
Preference given to those who are CRLA certified. Previous tutoring experience preferred.
Knowledge of tutorial strategies.
Skill in interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Skill with computer applications.
Ability to collaborate with students, faculty/staff, and/or community patrons to enhance their knowledge of tutored subject.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to read, write, and be understood in the English language.
Ability to motivate students.
Ability to work with diversity of individuals.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to accept and complete assigned projects.
