Instructor/Artistic Theatre Director
The Theatre Department at Mt. Hood Community College is accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor/Artistic Theatre Director. The Instructor/Artistic Theatre Director position organizes and operates a comprehensive Theatre Arts Program in cooperation with the Technical Director and Dean. Responsibilities include teaching coursework in acting, performance techniques, movement, theatre history and theatre appreciation. In addition, the artistic director will direct seasonal productions including one large musical theatre production for the department, collaborating with the music department and with various design staff. Other responsibilities include marketing, scheduling and budgeting theatre events, recruiting students and representing MHCC at off-campus theatre events. A strong background in musical theatre is preferred.
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
• MFA in Theatre or Musical Theatre
• Three years of experience teaching theatre; coursework may include acting (various levels), directing, theatre history, movement, musical theatre, childrens theatre and theatre appreciation
• Three years of experience directing musical theatre either at the academic or professional level
• Excellent interpersonal skills in communicating with faculty, design staff, crews and students
• Experience with marketing and publicity
• Demonstrated experience scheduling, coordinating, and selecting a theatre season
