Detailed Job Description

This unique professional support role provides administrative support for the Dean and the Division of Liberal Arts. The Coordinator supports planning and oversight of the curricula of three Liberal Arts departments, consisting of approximately 300 course listings. Duties include: preparing course tables; processing course proposals; scheduling all classes; coordinating the first year program with Foundation Studies; and registering all first-year, transfer, and concentration students. Also, the Coordinator supports the Dean in maintaining faculty and course records and supporting special curricular initiatives.

Some of the tasks related to this role include:

Maintaining close communication with Liberal Arts department heads and concentration coordinators, as well as other administrative offices.

Supporting the adjunct hiring process.

Providing regular analysis of course enrollments and classroom use.

Scheduling Division faculty meetings and keeping minutes.

Serving as backup for general operations of the Division office and staff, including support for 30 full-time and 85 adjunct faculty.  


Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years administrative support experience, preferably in a higher education setting. Must be detail-oriented, take initiative, able to interpret and prioritize requests for information, and follow up as needed. Requires aplomb. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills. Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Ability to monitor and maintain budgets and manage logistical arrangements. Knowledge and skill using PC and Mac computer software including: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and Google applications. Ability to work in a complex and fast paced environment with frequent interruptions and to build positive relations with multiple, diverse populations with varying needs. Proficient in text editing and proof-reading.
