Position reports to the Dean of the School of Business and will teach 15-16 credit hours per semester primarily of computer science courses.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities will also include guiding students and developing engaging activities for majors; developing and revising instructional materials; keeping student records; assisting in recommending and mentoring part-time faculty; contributing to student learning outcomes assessment activities, contributing to a positive work and learning environment, and working with various college committees. Position will include ongoing curriculum and program development activities that include communication with business members in the community. The instructor will maintain a minimum of 5 office hours per week. Both day and evening classes are scheduled. Online teaching and instruction at our two community sites are also potentially part of course delivery expectations.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Computer Science is required. Two years teaching experience or related training or educational activities required, teaching experience at the community college level preferred. Ability to teach classes use appropriate tools in the areas specified: programming in C++/C, Java, PHP, Perl and/or other languages, problem solving, application programs both console and GUI, apps, on Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android platforms; experience with MS Visual Studio 2013 and Qt 5. The successful candidate will value diversity and have a multicultural perspective with adult/minority students; be fluent in conversational English; and be highly motivated to help students succeed along with a strong commitment to the community college philosophy. Person must show a demonstrated record of staying abreast of changes in the field and continue to remain current.

Starting Salary

Commensurate upon highest level of education and actual years of teaching experience.
