Detailed Job Description

The Instructor of Communications will report directly to Dean of the School of Humanities and will provide 15 credit hours of instruction per semester with a primary teaching load in Communications.

Duties & Responsibilities

Course load will potentially include but not be limited to: Interpersonal Communication, Public Speaking and Communications/Student Success courses. Responsibilities include maintenance of office hours, develop and design curriculum in assorted modes of delivery such as face to face, online, accelerated courses, and learning communities, research and participate in professional development activities to stay current in the field of Speech Communications, interact and collaborate with colleagues to review and develop best practices for department, service to college through serving on and/or chairing committees, advisement, advisory councils, faculty sponsor of student clubs and organizations, mentor new and adjunct faculty, and other duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Humanities


A Master’s Degree in Speech/Communications or a related field. Minimum of three years of related full-time teaching experience in a post-secondary setting is required. Teaching experience at a community college, with a demonstrated interest in creating quality-learning environments, both in face-to-face and internet courses is preferred. The successful candidate will be dynamic with a high energy level and have a strong commitment to the community college and learning college philosophies. The candidate should also value diversity and have a strong multi cultural perspective with adult and minority students.

Starting Salary

Commensurate with highest level of education and actual years of teaching experience.
