Detailed Job Description

The Research Associate will contribute a wide range of skills and knowledge to externally funded projects and support project development and implementation activities related to projects and programs assigned to his/her Research and Evaluation Project Team. The Research Associate will promote the Evaluation & Assessment Center's mission by providing timely and accurate technical services, maintaining superior client relations, and working collaboratively with his/her Project Team.

Duties

Support the Senior Research Associate and Project Manager in developing proposals for evaluation/research/ professional development (PD) projects, including assisting in proposal preparation, background research, plan development, and proposal writing; work on multiple tasks related to assigned projects, including development/revision of instruments, questionnaires, and interview protocols; collection and analysis of different forms of qualitative data; and implementing project designs/plans as proposed; understand and can perform basic parametric and non-parametric statistical analyses using statistical computer software packages (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS); execute project qualitative data analysis plans and make recommendations to Sr. Research Associate and Project Manager for improvement; perform in-depth analyses of qualitative data using appropriate conceptual frameworks; provide accurate and appropriate interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data, applying knowledge of relevant research literature to the interpretation of analysis results; recognize and self-correct when data sets and/or findings are inaccurate or misrepresented; independently summarize analyses of data and produces technical reports of findings for assigned projects; maintain compliance with state and federal research regulation; attends mandatory and voluntary training and professional development sessions to enhance knowledge and skills; maintain regular proactive communication with clients and with members of Project Team to ensure completion of projects on time and within budget; collaboratively produces interim and annual reports for varied audiences (e.g., lay and professional); contributes to scholarly papers, conference presentations, and other professional documents for publication or dissemination; other duties as assigned and related to his/her Research and Evaluation Project Team's research, evaluation, and professional development activities.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in educational psychology, science, mathematics, or science/mathematics education, statistics, or closely related field; at least 1 year of experience with standard quantitative and qualitative research methods in education; at least 1 year of experience with routine quantitative and qualitative data analyses using standard analysis tools and software; at least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Professional; experience may be accrued concurrent with degree-seeking activities. Familiarity with APA guidelines; excellent verbal and written communications skills; knowledge of education research, preferably mathematics and science education; ability to work independently and collaboratively on an evaluation/research team; ability to handle multiple tasks and complicated detail work accurately and efficiently in the face of changing priorities and tight timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree in educational psychology, educational leadership, science, mathematics, or science/mathematics education or related field; experience producing professional writings, including interim, technical and evaluation reports and grant proposals; experience working with US school data; experience working in a research group, focused on teaching and learning; experience or degree in K-16 science and/or mathematics education; experience managing multiple programs/projects simultaneously; ability to travel to meet with clients and present at conferences.

Pay Range

38000   - 44000
