Job Responsibilities

Teaches a full range of lecture and lab credit courses of massage therapy basic science and massage theory, practice and clinical. Assists in the development of continuing education for students and accompany students to off-site activities or clinical.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Biology or related health career field with a minimum of 8 semester undergraduate credit hours (or 12 quarter hours) of Human Anatomy and Physiology courses with lab.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in hands-on massage therapy skills and must be willing
to learn, follow and teach the program’s established massage techniques and protocols.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a licensed massage therapist and be licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio. (Candidates who have an out-of-state license for the minimum of 5 years, must pass the MBLEx exam and be licensed by the Ohio medical board by start date).
• Experience or training in Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release
• Demonstrated teaching and clinical experience
• Proficient with word processing and presentation software, internet and email
• Must obtain a LMT license and be eligible to teach massage theory and practice in the state of Ohio prior to tenure consideration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in massage and/or biology, preferably in a community college.

• Being skilled in building strategic alliances both within and across disciplines, and within and outside the college.

Work Schedule

Classes are assigned, beginning August (Fall semester) 2013. Ability to work a combination of days/evenings/weekends is required. Assignments may include working at multiple sites/campuses.

Target Hiring Rate/Salary

$48,170 minimum; offer based on education/or and experience.

Special Note

This is a full-time tenure track faculty opportunity for the academic year beginning August (Fall) 2013. The academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) is 36 weeks in duration; summer contracts are issued separately.
