Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service is seeking applicants for a tenure-track appointment, at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology to begin fall 2015. We are looking to hire a cultural anthropologist. Subareas are open. The successful candidate will have expertise in theory and methodology, and a willingness to teach a graduate level theory and/or methodology course. The preferred candidate would also have skills across multiple methodological techniques. Position responsibilities include conducting and publishing research, teaching undergraduate and graduate anthropology courses, and helping to build a dynamic anthropology program. A Ph.D. is required at the time of the appointment. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is interdisciplinary with 16 full-time faculty members, including 4 anthropologists, 130 undergraduate majors, a MA program and is a thriving part of an urban doctoral/research extensive university. In addition, Saint Louis University is ranked as one of the top 5 Catholic-Jesuit universities in the country.
