Detailed Job Description

Responsible for supporting the daily administration of employee relations program activities for Valencia College. Coordinates the employee concern intake and support processes for employee relations issues. Responsible for providing information to employees regarding current policies and procedures, administrative processes, and addressing a variety of issues and/or providing general support. In consultation with other Employee Relations personnel and the Office of Policy and General Counsel, serves as the primary point of contact point of contact for employee's reporting concerns.

1. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution [required].
2. Reasonable experience in human resources, preferably in Employee Relations.
3. This position has a reasonably low access to protected health information and is required to participate in training relative to handling of protected health information.

6. May be required to provide own vehicle for completion of job duties

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of federal and state laws and college policies, procedures and guidelines related to employee relations and equal employment opportunities.
2. Skill in the use of a personal computer and related software.
3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of applicants and employees.
4. Ability to analyze related information, prepare reports, and make appropriate recommendations and decisions.
5. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, and complete assigned work within deadlines.
6. Ability to travel between campus and off-site locations.

Essential Job Functions

1. Supports the Office of Employee Relations to ensure consistent application of the Valencia College vision, policies, and key strategic initiatives to include compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and policies that pertain to Human Resources.
2. Coordinates the employee relations intake and support processes for proper triage. Screens and communicates with employees and supervisors by telephone, written correspondence, and in-person to assess circumstances causing concern. Fully understands the employee relations program to direct employees and supervisors in appropriate engagement of support and services.
3. Researches and provides solutions to routine employee concerns.
4. Coordinates employee disciplinary action and grievance process as well as the exit interview process.
5. Manages employee relation databases and tracking systems to use a web-based forum to generate reports, analyze information, and provide recommendations based on employee relations trends.
6. Maintains, coordinates and develops a wide variety of written materials in both manual and electronic formats (e.g. compliance reports, forms, procedures, brochures, pamphlets, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
7. Responsible for the research, development, and facilitation of Employee Relations related course sessions.
8. Participates in policy development.

9. Participates in meetings and presentations on a variety of human resources related issues, to include supporting other College personnel, providing and developing Employee Relations Services, and developing recommendations.
10. Completes and maintains departmental budget reports and related documentation. Utilizes purchasing card and prepares requisition for supplies and materials.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
