Responsible for the operational management and administrative direction of a department and supports the mission and vision of the division, school or college, and the university. Leads strategic planning and staffing responsibilities. Provides guidance and direction to senior management involved in coordinating activities. Responsible for formulating and administering the annual operating budget and ensures appropriate expenditure of all funds allocated for department administration. Provides leadership and direction in developing and implementing policies. Responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the University in order to attain departmental goals and objectives.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in a directly related field, plus four years of experience related to the Summary of Duties of the position or any combination of higher education and/or experience totaling ten years.
Knowledge of construction practices, project management, building code and LEED requirements for commercial buildings.
Knowledge of engineering principles needed in construction environment.
Knowledge of project specifications.
Knowledge of effective management practices.
Skill in communication, both written and verbal.
Skill in plan reading and understanding of planned spaces.
Skill in the use of CAD programs.
Skill in the use of Office Suite programs.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, stairs and scaffolding.
Ability to work in dusty, confined spaces.
Ability to work from high places including roof tops and lifts.
Ability to manage multiple projects with firm deadlines.
Ability to work well in groups with a diversity of personalities.
