The Government Department at Suffolk University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in International Relations for September 2015, pending final budgetary approval. Candidates must hold a Ph. D. in International Relations or Political Science. ABDs will be considered, but the Ph.D. is required by the time of employment.


We seek candidates with broad training in International Relations who will contribute to teaching introductory courses in International Relations, Methodology, East and Southeast Asian Politics and Global South related courses. Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to excellent teaching and scholarly potential.

The Government Department is composed of 12 full-time faculty, approximately 500 undergraduate majors and 20-30 graduate students. Faculty typically teach a 3-2 course load including courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additional responsibilities include advising majors and graduate students. The department has a strong commitment to student development by providing high quality instruction to a diverse student body.

Candidates should submit their cover letter, CV, teaching philosophy, and research statement as one file, in addition to 3 letters of recommendation electronically to Dr. Roberto Dominguez, chair of the International Relations Search Committee. Application materials should be submitted through Interfolio (  no later than December 12, 2015. We will begin application review immediately and late/incomplete applications will not be considered. Successful candidates who are invited to campus for in-person interviews will be expected to teach a 50-minute undergraduate level class on an assigned theme topic in their area of expertise and give a 45-minute research talk to faculty and students.
