Prepare and teach courses in physics and related areas (includes physical science survey and astronomy courses and/or laboratory courses). Serve on Department, College, and University committees. Maintain currency in academic field(s) of expertise. Engage in professional development activities and assist in curriculum and program development. Involvement of undergraduate students in research is strongly encouraged.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
-Prepares lectures, laboratory sessions and instructional materials as necessary.
-Conducts course sessions.
-Holds regular office hours.
-Interacts with and advise students in and out of class.
-Grades student assignments and exams and post final grades to central database.
-Attends Department, College, and University Meetings.
-Serves on Department, College, and University Committees
-Maintains currency in academic field(s) of expertise.
-Engages in professional development activities.
-Supervises teaching staff for courses in area(s) taught.
-Assists in program development and improvement.
-Uses common office and presentation software, internet, and e-mail
-Grant-writing to support teaching, research, conference travel, and other activities strongly encouraged.
-Must be able and willing to conduct field laboratories and natural history excursions.
-Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
