Detailed Job Description

This newly created role is responsible for researching and identifying grant opportunities, writing successful grant applications, complying with grantor reporting requirements, and developing and directing correspondence to a variety of funders and foundations. This is a unique opportunity to represent the museum, its mission, goals, programs and activities to foundation and governmental communities.  


Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education or experience

Minimum five years' experience in identification of funding sources, proposal development, grant review and approval process, grant administration, compliance with federal regulations in research activities, budgets and fiscal management

Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong organizational abilities

Demonstrated commitment to the Museum's mission, and to working to advance its position among national and international funders

Experience working with national arts and culture funders

Proven track record of success in grant writing and fundraising

Ability to advocate effectively for the Museum and its goals in professional and social settings

Ability to remain flexible and focused in a demanding work environment and to prioritize deadlines and assignments effectively
