Detailed Job Description

SMSU, one of seven universities in the Minnesota System, provides a diverse curriculum of liberal arts and selected professional programs. The University is located in the town of Marshall (pop.13,000), in rural southwest Minnesota, 155 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul and 90 miles from Sioux Falls, SD.

Responsibilities: Opportunity to teach in our fully CSWE accredited undergraduate Social Work program. Serve as the Director of field instruction and as liaison for field instruction sites. Participate in university, departmental, and program activities and teach practice/field related courses. Duties also include student advising, contribution to student growth and development, evaluating student performance, scholarly activity, and service to the University community.

A master’s degree in social work is required, a doctorate in social work or related area is preferred. Persons ABD will be considered with dissertation defense completed by August 15, 2011.
Preference given to individuals with supervisory experience and/or classroom teaching experience.
Demonstrated abilities/competence in instructional technology, including online instruction and commitment to interdisciplinary education is preferred.
