Detailed Job Description

Under the direction of Concurrent Enrollment, the Academic Advisor – Concurrent Enrollment will: advise Concurrent Enrollment students in all aspects of academic programs; provide developmental and career advising; help students develop an educational plan toward graduation; manage an advising caseload toward greater retention

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience related to the Summary of Duties or a combination of education and experience in the Summary of Duties totaling six years.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree with two years’ experience in closely related field and summary duties.


Knowledge of secondary and post-secondary advising to aid students in the transition to higher education.
Knowledge of high school, two-year college program, and traditional four-year college graduation requirements.
Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications.


Skill in academic counseling, career guidance, high school student retention and graduation strategies, college-readiness strategies, and first-generation college student preparation.
Strong leadership skills.
Skill in data tracking, record keeping, writing reports, and maintaining student and staff records.


Ability to collaborate effectively with other personnel, partners, and external parties.
Ability to create presentations and present them effectively and professionally to diverse audiences.
Ability to receive feedback and implement changes as needed.
Ability to work independently on a multi-task level and prioritize and follow projects and assignments through to completion in a timely manner.
Ability to deal with diverse personalities and a high-stress environment.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to serve individuals with diverse personalities through the use of effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills including various electronic media, telephone, facsimile, e-mail and presentation tools.

Pay Range

$16.05 to $20.06 per hour
