Detailed Job Description
The Facilities Supervisor, Evening Shift is responsible for overseeing the Facilities and Grounds Operations during the evening shift hours and for providing leadership to other Facilities and Grounds personnel.
Additional Department Summary:
Schedules and assigns work for Facilities and Grounds employees. Communicates and coordinates with customers to clarify work requests, set work schedules, and follow-up to ensure work is completed as required. Inspects work performed by others to ensure work is completed in a satisfactory and timely manner. Ensures emergencies and unplanned tasks are appropriately resolved. Works with tools to complete tasks as required and assists other Facilities and Grounds employees with work as needed. Supports the University and Facilities and Grounds Operations mission and goals.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of technical school training, or higher, in a maintenance trade and four (4) years of paid work experience in the maintenance of industrial or commercial type buildings and equipment, to include a minimum of one (1) year supervisory/work leadership experience; OR a High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of paid work experience in the maintenance of industrial or commercial type buildings and equipment, to include a minimum of one (1) year supervisory/work leadership experience. Must be able to perform all items listed in the Job Summary.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Must be able to plan and complete projects based on the various building requirements. Must have the ability to read, interpret work requirements, and identify problems using sketches, specifications, plans, and blueprints. Must be able to use job-related tools and equipment. Must be able to lift, handle, and maneuver the tools, materials, and supplies of the job. Must drive from site to site. Must have a valid U. S. Driver's License. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
At least two (2) years of functional supervision in a maintenance organization to include assigning, coordinating, scheduling, and inspecting work assignments. Proficient in Microsoft office products.
