Detailed Job Description

The TV News Producer plans, writes and coordinates the production of at least one live daily newscast for WVUA television. Responsible for all newscast content, he/she must write scripts in broadcast format as determined by industry standards and match them with appropriate video.

Additional Department Summary:

This position is also responsible for ensuring that the station website is representative of the daily on-air product and consistent with the guidelines and standards of the overall news product, including writing web stories and posting video on a daily basis.

Required Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Communication, Telecommunication and Film, Journalism or related field and one (1) year of news producing (Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered) or an approved combination of comparable education and experience in which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. To be considered student experience, it must be detailed in the employment section on the application. Must be proficient in the operation of a personal computer. Must have exceptional writing, planning and organizational skills. Work may involve a non-typical work schedule, including working weekends and special events. Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 25 pounds. Approved Equivalencies: (A) High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years (B) Vocational/Technical/ Trade School in any field and 4 years (C) Associates Degree and 3 years (D) Bachelors Degree and 1 year

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Must have ability to upload news stories and video to the web site. 55 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 25833.60 Midpoint - $ 34444.80
