Detailed Job Description

The Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing the annual marketing plan for University of Alabama student enrollment management initiatives. Works with senior management across campus to develop product marketing plans.

Additional Department Summary:

The position must be able to design, develop and manage marketing and communications of participating departments across campus to prospective and currently enrolled students. Information may include communications from Admissions, Scholarships, Orientation, Testing Services, Registrar and Financial Aid. In addition, the position will manage communications to prospective students from outside the Enrollment Management areas. The position is responsible for the development, management and oversight of all electronic media campaigns including the design, development and communication of information to prospective, applied, admitted, committed and enrolled students, high school counselors, alumni and parents for the purpose of automating and improving yield of targeted groups. The position will manage communications (print and electronic), web surveys, automated campaigns, telecounseling scripts and the production of address files for communication efforts. Monitors and coordinates campaigns to insure that contacts are not excessive and campaigns are working effectively. The position must be able to work well with other departments when developing communication plans. It may sometimes serve as mediator or liaison when coordinating the goals of multiple departments and prioritizing communications so as to not over-stimulate the target. The ability to maintain the proper balance for the target while maintaining department/divisional customer satisfaction is essential. In addition, the position must obtain certification and abide by all confidentiality laws and policies while accessing data that is protected by HIPPA and FERPA regulations. The position is responsible for the training of all users of Talisma CRM system. Training will include, but is not limited to; Admissions, Orientation, Scholarship Technology Support, Distance Learning, Honors College, Divisional Colleges and Departmental users.

Required Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience; or a master's degree and 1 year of experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Must have some supervisory experience. Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier. Skills and Knowledge: Writing and editing, Website content development and maintenance, Promotion of Center activities and initiatives through social media applications, webpage, press releases and e-mails, PowerPoint design, Desktop publishing, Prezi, Camtasia/Captivate, Learner Centered Instructional Design. Advanced skills in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to think analytically. Ability to gather and interpret relevant data and information. Good communication skills. Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, IT, higher education or related field. Experience in higher education, recruitment, or admissions environment. Experience using CRM or related database Minor in computer sciences, management information systems or related field and/or experience working with complex relational database systems. Experience with ASP forms, SQL, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Camtasia Studio and BlackBoard Collaborate is a plus 59 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 42993.60 Midpoint - $ 62337.60
