The Department of Management at Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applications for a full-time tenure track faculty member beginning August 2015. The position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching; student advising; professional development/scholarship which includes development of intellectual contributions; and service to department, college, university, profession and community. Additionally the candidate must have a desire to work with a diverse student body to increase student retention and success and perform other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population. Teaching involves activities that impart knowledge and critical thinking skills to students. It includes preparing for courses assigned, assessing student progress, conducting curricular review, curricular development and program review, including the use of new technology, as appropriate.
Advising involves activities specifically directed to assist the student in choosing career options, choosing a degree program, successfully completing his/her degree, obtaining employment or graduate school placement, and keeping informed of University policies.
Scholarly activity is a process which includes activities that bring enrichment to the faculty member and the profession and results in new material that can be presented to students as well as new skills which benefit the University community and are related to the faculty member’s assigned responsibilities. It may include investigative work or basic research; making connections across disciplines; placing the specialized in broad context; making knowledge broadly accessible; solving of problems through the use of scholarly expertise, pedagogical research, creative exploration and production; and methods for the transformation and extension of knowledge so long as such activities enhance the faculty member’s teaching and/or the faculty member’s ability to perform his/her assigned responsibilities.
Service involves contributions to the improvement of the welfare of the University at any level, and typically unpaid public service to the community or professional organizations which benefits the University.
Assistant Professor: All But Dissertation or doctoral degree in related field
Associate Professor: Doctoral Degree in related field
Professor: Doctoral Degree in related field
Doctorate in Management, Business Administration, Operations Management or International Business from an AACSB accredited institution. A record of recent refereed publications or other intellectual contributions in the Business Management field. Previous college teaching experience and/or related industry experience is desirable. The preferred candidate will be qualified to teach a wide range of Management courses with a specific emphasis in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management and International Business. *Ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.
