Assistant or Associate Professor of Special Needs Education

A tenure-track or clinical appointment in Education at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor is available on August 1, 2015, in the Indiana University Division of Education at IUPUC. Rank will be dependent on qualifications and evidence of scholarship. The position is a ten-month teaching assignment with expectations of teaching a variety of courses within Education and at various academic levels, disseminating scholarship, and engaging in service. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Successful teaching at the university level is very important as are appropriate scholarship, service, and civic engagement related to teaching and learning.
REQUIREMENTS: An earned doctorate, Ph.D. or Ed.D., in Special Needs Education or equivalent field is required. The successful candidate will be able to teach a variety of education courses, primarily in the elementary education and special needs dual license programs. Other requirements include experience teaching at the K-12 and university levels, experience with program assessment, and evidence of ability to establish and maintain an active program of scholarship leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
PREFERENCES: Experience in the following areas is preferred: K-12 school partnerships, program/ curriculum development, and expertise in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and psycho-educational assessment. Applicants should be able to evidence a record of effectiveness and innovation in university teaching and a demonstrated capacity to collaborate with faculty across disciplines. Preference will be given to applicants who have a record of teaching and serving first generation college students, as well as applicants who have a background in early language education.

IUPUC is located one hour south of Indianapolis, 1¼ hours from Louisville, and 1½ hours from Cincinnati. Columbus is known for its world class architecture, wonderful programs for young children, many parks, excellent philharmonic orchestra, and people trails. IUPUC has a staff of 62 full-time faculty with excellent credentials and enrolls 2,000 students annually.
