Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. PhD in Philosophy
Expertise with philosophical ethics and applied ethics, teaching critical thinking and critical writing.
Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques in upper and lower division courses.
Knowledge of student management, motivation, evaluation; evaluation of (peer and self) instruction.
Demonstrated knowledge of program and curriculum development and evaluation.
Knowledge of and expertise in current trends in education, engaged learning and service learning, learning technologies (e.g. digital technologies for classroom management and distance education), public presentation, outcomes measurement and grant writing.
Skill in verbal and written communication.
Skill in time management and organization.
Skill in problem solving.
Skill as an accomplished teacher/performer.
Skill in recruiting, interviewing and placement of students.
Skill in assisting counselors and other department heads in maintaining an effective program.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, agency administrators, and community practitioners from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
