Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position of a Counselor. In this role, you will provide comprehensive counseling services to students as well as consultation with faculty, staff and parents regarding student mental health issues under supervision of the Director of Counseling.
This position is a 35 hour weekly, independent contractor role and is non-benefit eligible. Office hours are generally Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 6:00 pm.

-Provide counseling services to students, including assessments, crisis intervention, short-term counseling, case management services and referrals to campus and community resources.
-Collaborate with academic affairs, student health staff, public safety, student affairs, administrators and staff to provide crisis intervention, counseling and consultation.
-Perform role in a nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory manner in accordance with policies
-Employ excellent clinical and communication skills.
-Provide workshops and programming for faculty, staff and students on relevant wellness topics.
-Coordinate student care including referrals and collaborating with other treatment providers.
-Utilize electronic medical record system to maintain accurate and current documentation regarding counseling records.
-Working knowledge of HIPAA.
-Participate in interdisciplinary meetings with Student Health Services staff and training programs.
-Contribute to a supportive, healthy and safe work environment.
-Promote positive morale and teamwork within the student affairs division and provide exceptional operational excellence to students, faculty and community.
-Perform other duties as assigned
-Master’s degree in related field of Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology.
-Licensed for the state of Connecticut in the related field .
-Five years of experience in mental health. Focus on caring for young adult/adult population.
-Ability to work independently in clinical practice.
-Experience with sensitivity of a diverse community, and a demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent and sensitive counseling services to a racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse population.
- Must be available to counsel in person on campus during office hours.
