Detailed Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Instructional Innovation in Instruction and Technology, the Instructional Designer/Innovator will coordinate with Distatnce Education (DE) leadership, campus entities, and colleagues to design, pilot and implement innovative learning technology projects and training programs to serve the mission (s) of Distance Education and Utah Valley University. These innovative projects include particularly the development of hybrid courses.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
- Perform in a variety of specialized instructional design and academic technology roles in support of university needs, such as hybrid course development, LMS technical support, visual design, needs analysis, assessment, and curriculum support. [40%]
- Oversee and coordinate comprehensive faculty training and development activities that encourage innovative use of technology for teaching and learning. [30%]
- Plan, develop, implement, promote, and report on new and existing Innovation Center services, projects, or initiatives related to improving teaching and the use of technology for learning to foster a culture of innovation for UVU faculty and staff. [20%]
- Collaborate and coordinate with academic departments, support staff, and administration to analyze and satisfy faculty training, instructional Design, and Academic Technology needs. [10%]
 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Technology, Education, or a related field and three years experience related to the essential duties.
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Knowledge of distance learning course development and production management practices.
- Knowledge of national standards for the delivery of online and blended/hybrid education.
- Ability to plan, direct, implement and evaluate courses delivered by technologically enhanced modalities.
- Demonstrate evidence of success in developing and delivering creative courses.
- Ability to coordinate with faculty and staff to produce quality distance education learning experiences.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
- Ability to produce a budget and financial proposals.
- Ability to research, analyze, and present information in order to converse with experts in the field.
- Ability to plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate innovative learning media and experiences in coordination with faculty and staff.
- Experience teaching post-secondary learners, adult learners, and/or faculty, both face-to-face and online.
- Ability to lead, direct, and supervise a group.
- Ability to engage and persuade small and large audiences
