Detailed Job Description

Miami University, Department of Engineering Technology is accepting applications for a full time faculty position housed on the Middletown campus in Mechanical Engineering Technology with possible James A. Myers Endowed Professorship. This tenure-track position is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor commencing in August of 2015.

The department offers ABET/ETAC accredited bachelor's completion degree programs with concentrations in Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology; and associate degree programs in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology. In addition, the department offers a new bachelor's completion degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. The department is part of the College of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences of Miami University and is based on Miami's open-admission regional campuses in Hamilton and Middletown Ohio.


The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses during day and evening hours. Some or all courses may be delivered by interactive video and web. Courses to be taught include but are not limited to: mechanical vibrations, finite element analysis, advanced machine design, computer-aided drafting and design, manufacturing, solid modeling and fundamental mechanical courses such as statics, dynamics, and fluid mechanics. The individual hired is expected to be an effective teacher, develop curriculum, advise students, and actively engage in outreach programs to promote associate and bachelor degree programs; provide meaningful service to the department and the university which may include program coordination activities; and to develop and maintain high quality scholarship.

Basic Qualifications

Master's in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or closely related field and post-secondary teaching experience coupled with technologically current work experience. Applicants that possess a Master's Degree and at least five (5) years' experience in mechanical engineering will also be considered. The successful candidate must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. For appointment as Associate Professor, require at least five years of college teaching; prefer Ph.D.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. is strongly preferred and Professional Engineering License is a plus.
