FULL-TIME FINANCIAL AID COUNSELOR: (Financial Aid/Enrollment Services) 37.5 hours per week. Office is open from 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday and Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, schedule will need to be flexible based on the needs of the office. This position will require Saturdays and late evenings during peak enrollment periods for the fall and spring semesters as well as for financial aid presentations for Open Houses and Financial Aid Nights. (MCCC/MTA Unit Position) Anticipated Start Date: January 7, 2015
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide financial aid counseling to current and prospective students and families in an environment that is committed to providing exceptional service. This position will also provide customer service to students, parents, faculty, staff, and public through in-person, phone, and email counseling. The Financial Aid Counselor provides services to students on both the Haverhill and Lawrence Campuses and is expected to meet with students to review and assist with the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
S/he will be responsible for processing financial aid to include performing needs analysis, resolving student eligibility issues and conflicting data, performing file review and verification, make professional judgment decisions regarding student aid eligibility, determine eligibility for financial aid and process awards, including all types of student loans, federal, state and institutional aid, and adjusting aid including resolving overawards. Incumbents in this position will interact with specific outside agencies to facilitate the student eligibility process and he/she is accountable for ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies and procedures.
Two years experience working in a Financial Aid Office, Bachelor’s Degree required, and strong knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and programs are all required. Must be self-motivated; have the ability to problem solve; be able to communicate effectively with students, staff and the community and have a commitment to customer service; able to work in fast pace team enviroment. Strong time management skills are required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required, SCT Banner Student Information Systems experience preferred. Experience working in community college and One-Stop Enrollment Services setting preferred. Strong preference for bi-lingual (Spanish/English) candidate in order to best serve the needs of the College’s Hispanic/Latino population on the Lawrence Campus.
Salary: Anticipated salary range $42,900.00 - $60,102.00 annually with complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system; Pay grade #3.
