The Business Analyst I (BA) provides operational support for a broad portfolio of mission critical applications and a wide range of functional areas. The BA role proactively seeks operational efficiencies in process and procedure through the study of existing departmental activities and collaboration with personnel. The BA identifies opportunities and challenges and develops solutions using technology and business process re-engineering. Key Responsibilities  

  • Business Operations Support
    • Support and maintain existing business system processes for the Human Resource and Payroll Offices
    • Develop and implement long term and sustainable resolutions to common day-to-day break/fix situations
    • Triage change requests to determine in-house or vendor-based solutions
    • Prepare and maintain business process documentation
  • Analytics
    • Document report requirements
    • Work with Application Developers to develop custom business intelligence
    • Verify and validate reports
  • Business Process Improvement
    • Proactively seek business process improvement opportunities
    • Lead the elicitation and gathering of business and systems requirements using interviews, job shadowing and other elicitation techniques
  • End-User Training
    • Prepare and deliver end-user training
    • Prepare and maintain training documentation
  • Application Maintenance
    • Coordinate software upgrades by measuring upgrade impact to business operations, and developing a plan to accommodate any changes
    • Develop and maintain quality assurance test plans
  • Professional Knowledge
    • Maintains professional knowledge of business areas served and technical knowledge of applications supported by reading industry publications and attending relevant industry events

•Baccalaureate degree in Business Administration or Information Systems
•Two years of experience as a Business Analyst
•Strong leadership, business, project management and technical skills
•Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
•Customer service orientation to support the mission of Technology by providing high quality, professional Technology services and timely responses and solutions to customer requests
•Ability to balance the needs of the business user with the needs of the system
•Detail-orientation and proven time management skills with the ability to  handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
•Capability to perform in a dynamic and team oriented environment with the ability to build consensus and motivate others
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to maintain working relationships with co-workers, vendors and customers.
•Mastery of all Microsoft Office productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)  Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience in a higher education environment
•Experience with UltiPro (HRIS), BrightMove (ATS), and/or SaaSHR •Three years of experience as a Business Analyst
