West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), a regional four-year campus and division of West Virginia University, located in Montgomery, WV, has the following employment opportunity:
Assistant/Associate Professor in Civil Engineering Technology in the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences. The position is 9-mo, full-time, tenure-track, effective January 1, 2015. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field is required. Good oral and written communication skills are required. The successful candidate must be able to complement our ABET-accredited and practice-oriented program and show potential for excellence in teaching. Preferences will be given to candidates having experience in teaching Civil Engineering Technology courses and ETAC/ABET assessment requirements. Experience with or demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role in Construction Management undergraduate and graduate program development is considered a plus. Candidates who are approaching graduation prior to appointment date will be given full consideration but completion of the degree must occur before the effective date of the appointment.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to: teach a variety of courses from a Civil Engineering Technology curriculum, with an assigned schedule; provide mentoring and advising to Civil Engineering Technology students; collaborate with other faculty and industry to ensure that the curriculum reflects current standards and industry needs. Other duties include those normally associated with a faculty position in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Technology program.
