Under the direction of the President, the Vice President of Student and Educational Services is responsible for leadership in planning, developing, administering, coordinating and evaluating the college’s student services programs; recommending and administering student services related policies and procedures; and collaborating with appropriate areas of the college to ensure student success. The Vice President will provide administrative leadership to the operations of services related to student recruitment, retention, transfer and community outreach which encompasses admissions, records and registration, financial aid, academic advising and counseling, student testing, career and job placement, athletics, student engagement, public safety, multicultural services, services for students with disabilities, the Library Learning Information Center, and Lifelong Learning.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Provide innovative leadership and direction in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Delta College’s Student and Educational Services Division programs and activities.
•Lead the Student and Educational Services Division as it continues to integrate higher level student development and enrollment strategies in traditional student service practices.
•Work with division deans, directors, and managers to develop and monitor a division budget that adequately funds Student and Educational Services Division programs while ensuring the most effective use of the college’s financial resources.
•Ensure the development and implementation of continuous quality measures and system improvements for all Student and Educational Services Division programs and activities.
•Provide leadership in recruiting and retaining a diverse student body.
•Serve as a member of the President’s Executive Council in developing appropriate college policies, procedures and guidelines.
•Ensure full Student and Educational Services Division commitment and collaboration in achieving the college’s mission, vision, and strategic initiatives.
•Responsible for recruiting, developing, motivating, and evaluating all assigned staff.
•Work in a collaborative manner with other college departments and divisions in Delta College’s tradition of shared governance to accomplish all tasks.
•Monitor technology trends, programs, and applications to ensure that Delta College Student Services technology is up-to-date and available to meet the needs of students.
•Participate with area high schools, other colleges, organizations and citizens who seek college assistance to better themselves.
•Engage in community – Represent the College by participating in appropriate boards, organizations, and activities.
1.Master’s degree required.
2.Seven or more years of student services or related leadership experience required, preferably in a higher education environment.
3.An understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy.
4.An understanding of technology trends and applications in student services programs and activities.
5.Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
6.Demonstrated passion in meeting the needs of the educationally underserved and a diverse student body.
7.Demonstrated willingness and ability to listen and communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff and community members.
8.Senior level experience in budget development.
9.Senior level experience in enrollment management.
10.Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a collegial team environment.
11.Has a clear, focused vision on how student services contributes to student success.
12.Demonstrated broad understanding of the needs of a diverse community college student body, and the ability to engage students, faculty, and staff in student success issues.
