The Albert Gnaegi Center is an independent, degree-granting, and academic Center within the University. It is also the tenure home for its faculty. The Center is dedicated to the teaching, research, and service mission of the University. Center faculty teach graduate level ethics courses in its PhD program, and also teach professional ethics in the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, and the College of Public Health and Social Justice, as well as undergraduate health care ethics courses to Nursing, Public Health, Pre-Medical, and Health Sciences students. The Albert Gnaegi Center is recruiting an outstanding teacher and scholar with a promising research agenda at the level of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have an MD, and will be clinically active. There is a strong preference for specialization in palliative care, though other clinical departments will be considered. He or she will also have a PhD in an ethics field, preferably in philosophy, religious studies, or theology, though other fields will be considered. A track record of publication is of central importance.Position Responsibilities
Within the Albert Gnaegi Center, the successful candidate will oversee and coordinate postgraduate medical ethics and professionalism education. The successful candidate will spend a portion (to be negotiated) of her or his time in a clinical department, again with strong preference for palliative care. The successful candidate will also have opportunity to teach in the undergraduate minor and PhD programs in the Albert Gnaegi Center.
