Detailed Job Description

The Broadcast Producer/Reporter is responsible for assisting in the implementation of a comprehensive broadcast communications plan for The University of Alabama. This communications plan involves writing, producing and marketing news stories, media relations and coordination of special video projects. UA Broadcast Media and Video Production serves as the primary media relations and public relations point of contact for local, state, and national broadcast media, as well as a fully-equipped broadcast news bureau and a highly creative broadcast video production facility. The Broadcast Producer/Reporter focuses mainly on producing content about University students, faculty and programs that will be used for video news releases, web-casts and satellite news feeds. The person in this position will also assist in all other productions done by the Department of Broadcast Media and Video Production. The person in this position works with the Broadcast Media and Video Production

As technology evolves it is also important that the person in this position keep up to date on the merging worlds of broadcast and web communication. It is also important that the person in this position keep up to date on trends in the broadcast media to make sure we continually communicate effectively with broadcast professionals.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in broadcast journalism, communications, telecommunication and film, or related field and a minimum of two (2) years demonstrated experience in broadcast news, broadcast production or broadcast public relations (preferably in television market size 50 or above). Skills and Knowledge:A high degree of problem solving skills is a necessity for this position. The person in this position must have a working knowledge of video editing software, including Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Illustrator Preferred Qualifications:A working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and other Adobe products, Final Cut Pro and Motion as well as knowledge of lighting techniques, audio equipment and other production skills. 56 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 28537.56 Midpoint - $ 39956.76
