Detailed Job Description

Working under moderate supervision, this position receives and processes requests from a variety of sources to include multiple telephone lines and radio frequencies for emergency and non-emergency assistance. Dispatches appropriate personnel in an efficient and timely manner. Operates various on-line systems to enter, update and retrieve data. Maintains a variety of logs and files.

Required Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Must receive certification with the Alabama Criminal Justice Information System within 6 months of hire. Ability to operate a personal computer. Good listening, comprehension and communications skills. Ability to work autonomously and utilize independent judgment. Ability to become familiar with the University of Alabama campus buildings and locations. Ability to work shifts with varying schedules to include holidays and be on stand-by during emergency threatening situations, such as severe weather, natural disasters, etc. Ability to maintain confidentiality. One year of general office experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Written test and psychological test. All applicants are required to take a Dispatcher's Exam which is scheduled for 1:00pm on Dec. 3, 2014 in HM Comer room 126.Final candidate must submit to and successfully pass a post offer drug test. $22.85 - $26.10/hr.
