The Department of Engineering Technology at Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applicants for a Mechanical Engineering Technology Tenure Track Faculty member position starting Fall 2015. The successful candidate is expected to teach classes with a focus in traditional and computer aided engineering courses in Mechanical Engineering Technology. The candidate will be an integral member of the Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) faculty as well as the Department of Engineering Technology and will be required to follow those responsibilities outlined in the MSU Denver Handbook for Professional Personnel.
This position will be requested to teach a minimum of 24 credit hours (or equivalent) per academic year and maintain minimum of 5 office hours per week to include advising and consultation with students. In addition to teaching, the position will require being active in engineering technology professional societies and activities, engaging in professional development, scholarly activities, applying current technical computer language/software and using other technologies in the classroom. Candidates will be expected to teach in the classroom as well as in the laboratory setting. Selected candidate should have the background and expertise to be able to teach courses in the fundamentals of mechanical engineering technology. Selected candidate must be able to teach at least 3 of following courses: Heat Transfer and Lab, Fluids, Dynamics, 3 D Modeling, Technical Drawing, Machine Design, Thermodynamics and other Mechanical Engineering Technology related courses. Full time faculty members are also required to provide service to the department and institution by participating on committees academic advising, contributing to course and program development, assessments related to accreditation,update course curriculum and contribute to course development. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population that includes U.S. ethnic minorities and/or women.
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field plus 4 years’ relevant work experience or Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field. Applicants with college teaching experience who are able to document effectiveness in undergraduate teaching of mechanical engineering technology courses are preferred. Professional Engineering Registration is a plus.
