Stony Brook University's School of Medicine is seeking candidates and nominees for Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs. The Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs reports to the Dean of the School of Medicine and will provide support to the SOM faculty in the areas of career advancement, professional satisfaction, faculty development and mentoring programs, diversity, as well as grievance and misconduct issues.
Candidates should have prior experience leading an office of faculty affairs and have a record of demonstrating the highest level of ethical conduct as well as a commitment to diversity; experience with faculty recruitment and retention; strong interpersonal and communication skills; a demonstrated ability to provide leadership within a complex organization; an ability to establish strong working relationships with faculty and leadership; and experience in conflict resolution.
Required Academic and Professional Credentials: The successful candidate will have an MD, PhD or equivalent degree and must be eligible for a senior faculty appointment in accordance with the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure). Excellent management and organizational skills and an ability to demonstrate a thorough knowledge, understanding and experience of faculty affairs are essential.
