Creates a productive learning environment for students in the woodwind area. Teaches clarinet private instruction, woodwind practicum, chamber music, as well as other courses assigned. Executes woodwind area duties such as auditions, juries, performance classes, and recruiting.
Graduation with a doctorate from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals. Must have experience assessing student learning capabilities and learning styles and understand how to develop curriculum of assigned courses.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate in clarinet and two years of related experience instructing.
Knowledge of the principles and methodology of clarinet instruction in a variety of genres and techniques.
Skill as an accomplished teacher and performer.
Skill in recruiting, interviewing and placement of students.
Ability to develop curriculum and teach assigned courses.
Ability to engage students in learning and performing opportunities on campus and in the community.
Ability to communicate (written and verbal) with a wide variety of students, faculty and others.
