Assistant/Associate Professor of Animal Science
The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) (www.uamont.edu) School of Agriculture and the Southeast Research and Extension Center, University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, are seeking a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Animal Science. Located in the beautiful timberlands area of southeastern Arkansas, UAM is both a commuter and residential campus with an enrollment of approximately 3,900 students. Beef and poultry production comprise the vast majority of animal agriculture in the area. The UAM School of Agriculture offers the Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis areas of animal science, agribusiness, plant and soil science, and general agriculture. Approximately 130 students are enrolled in degree programs in the School.
Responsibilities: This is a nine-month position requiring the teaching of introductory animal science, nutrition, breeding, production, and reproductive physiology courses in the School of Agriculture during the academic year. Other duties include advising (including all pre-veterinary students) and mentoring students, scholarship, and University service. The position may include a summer research or Extension appointment. This individual is expected to be an active cooperator with the U of A Division of Agriculture statewide Animal Science research and Extension program. This position works extensively on interdisciplinary projects with other faculty and staff at UAM.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Animal Science or a DVM preferred. Experience in beef cattle and poultry preferred. A strong commitment to UAM’s mission is essential.
