Under the direction of the Associate Director of Prospect Research, the Analyst conducts research on individuals, corporations, and foundations that are prospects for significant financial support or can in other ways to advance the University (e.g. through influence or volunteer activity). The position is reactive and responsive to requests from university development staff and the office of the president; it is also proactive in expanding the pool of potential prospects and bringing to the attention of the development staff those that offer the greatest promise of return.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year of relative experience OR a combination of relevant experience totaling five years.
Strong computer skills and demonstrated background in Internet-based research.
Experience working with a relational database is a necessity, preferably Raisers Edge, as well as the Microsoft Office suite of products, including excel. Ability to download and export information between systems.
Demonstrated experience in prospect research, development, or information related field preferably in a higher education environment.
Knowledge in development research methods.
Knowledge of database systems, data sources, and data analytics.
Knowledge of the range of resources available to prospect researchers and the ability to apply those resources in an organized and purposeful manner.
Skill in analysis.
Skill in computer use.
Skill in document composition (profiles, biographies, project summaries) using style, grammar and content appropriate to specific audiences.
Skill in written communication.
Ability to work independently, while prioritizing and successfully balancing multiple tasks and projects.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with confidential information.
