Detailed Job Description
The Program Specialist is responsible for supporting the administration of a program(s) or department. May assist with program design, management, and implementation. Serves as liaison between the program and other departments or the community. Position may supervise staff or students, provide complex administrative assistance, create promotional materials, and assist in the development of other potential programs. Position may be responsible for budgetary information.
Additional Department Summary:
The individual will oversee all program activities/events and Manage day to day operations at The Edge and all Alabama Entrepreneurship Program (AEI) Initiatives including administrative and financial oversight, hiring and supervision of staff and students; execute strategies to accomplish long term vision and goals developed by College and Dean and guided by the director. This program will enhance the academic experience for students. Execute strategies to accomplish long term vision and goals developed by the College and the Dean. This requires coordinated effort with the director of the program to develop effective strategies that will increase awareness of the program as well as the College in the context of the vision and goals established. Budget and Program Human resources will be handled by this position to encompass the hiring and subsequent disposition of student employees. Position will act as liaison between the University and all AEI activities. Responsible for event management to include, but not limited to, Entrepreneurship week, business pitch and the business plan competitions. Work with the public, the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Tuscaloosa and other outside constituents on matters related to Entrepreneurship at UA (Culverhouse). Outside community involvement is required. Planning of extracurricular camps including AlabamaReal and Junior Achievement. Duties also include preliminary triage of visitors to The Edge. Position is funded annually based on available financial support. This position is demanding and vital to the overall image of the assigned area in terms of attracting financial resources, quality students, corporate participation, and external support.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree and a minimum of two (2) years related experience, OR an associate's degree and a minimum of four (4) years related experience, OR a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of six (6) years related experience. Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier.
Self-motivated individual who has experience working in the field of entrepreneurship in the area of Higher Education; budgeting and financial planning; event management experience; and some public relations/marketing experience.
56 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 28537.56 Midpoint - $ 39956.76
