Detailed Job Description

Counselor serves as a liaison to a school on campus and will be responsible to counsel and advise students, as well as alumni and the community, regarding career choices and internships. Collects, analyzes, and organizes career information though records, tests, interviews, and professional resources, as well as networking and building relationships with employers.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Counseling & Guidance, Educational Psychology, Social Work, or related Social Science field and two years of full time professional employment related to the Summary of Duties.


Knowledge of career counseling theory and practices.
Knowledge of the School of Technology and Computing.
Knowledge of college/university culture and job placement methodology.
Knowledge of current social, economic, and employment conditions and trends.
Knowledge of employer staffing practices, needs, and recruitment.
Knowledge of research and analysis methods and report writing and maintaining databases.
Basic knowledge of both project management and marketing principles and practices.


Skill in public speaking and group presentations.


Ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written communications, as well as using electronic media and graphic presentation tools.
Ability to design workflow models, processes, and systems.
Ability to work collaboratively and establish positive relationships and to supervise and mentor staff, students and para-professionals as assigned.
Ability to find solutions to complex problems and manage priorities.
Ability to network with employers to establish beneficial relationships for students and alumni.

Pay Range

$36,319 to $48,425 annually
