Detailed Job Description

Under general direction monitor/track UVU aircraft inspections.
-Investigate reports and track discrepancies found on aircraft by students and instructors.
-Educate aircraft operators on inspection time and date limits. Perform maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs on UVU aircraft to assure continued airworthiness.
-Perform required inspections, and maintain aircraft log books in accordance with federal aviation regulations.
-Instruct students in theory and application of the operation of the aircraft engines, instruments, and accessories.
-Teach students techniques, practices, and requirements of aircraft maintenance.
-Maintain an atmosphere of teamwork and open communication between maintenance department, flight department, and students to assure learning and airworthiness of aircraft.
-Maintain partnerships with industry/corporations and government.
-Perform job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and completion of two years recognized trade school, plus two years apprenticeship experience in related to the essential functions.
-Current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Power Plant License

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of instructional strategies/techniques.
2. Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
3. Skill in oral and written communication maintenance/learning environment.
4. Ability to repair and maintain Diamond and Piper aircraft, Lycoming and Continental engines.
5. Ability to repair and maintain Katana DV/DA20 and DA40 aircraft.
6. Ability to verify compliance with FAA regulation, airworthiness directives, inspections, and accompanying paperwork.
