Under the direction of the Department Chairperson, teaches courses in Exercise Science. Major teaching responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): Research Methods in Exercise Science, Foundations of Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, and Clinical Exercise Physiology. Provide campus and community service including service on committees, involvement in research/scholarly activity, perform other duties associated with teaching, departmental and college responsibilities, and other duties as assigned and described in the faculty handbook.
Graduation with a doctorate from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals. Must have experience assessing student learning capabilities and learning styles and understand how to develop curriculum of assigned courses.
Doctorate degree in Exercise Science or a related field. Applicants who are ABD will be considered (must complete dissertation within 2 years of hiring date). Candidates with ACSM/NSCA credentials are preferred.
Student Evaluations from the 2 most current semesters. Evidence of involvement in professional organizations.
Knowledge of Exercise Science and course content. Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
Knowledge of program and curriculum development.
Knowledge of measurement, evaluation and research.
Skill in student management, motivation and evaluation.
Proficiency in use of technology.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Effective interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making skills.
