The Packaging Science (PS) department in RIT’s College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) is currently seeking applications from exceptional candidates for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to support the Packaging Science program. Candidates for this position will be expected to teach and conduct focused research in packaging science and/or discipline based education research. The fall 2015 position begins in mid-August 2015.
Responsibilities will include teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching will include course and laboratory development and delivery via traditional classroom and distance learning formats. Scholarship productivity including securing external funding and publications in a well-defined area of focus that enhances and complimentsthe department’s strategic research foci (https://www.rit.edu/cast/scholarship-foci-department) is expected. Service will include contributions to the department, college and university; and maintaining a clear professional development agenda to support the department’s growth.

Required Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. or earned doctorate in packaging science or a related field or ABD with completion date prior to August 1, 2015
• Demonstrated knowledge in the field of packaging science
• Ability and interest in conducting research and delivering instruction across a variety of packaging subject areas
• Evidence of scholarly activity in the field of packaging science
• Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences
• Demonstrated potential for high quality teaching in one or more of the following areas; food packaging, consumer goods packaging, distribution, dynamics and packaging design.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
