Supervises workers engaged in the operation of equipment; care and maintenance of all trees; shrubs, grass and plantings; and, repair and maintenance of roads, parking lots and walkways.
Maintains all campus vehicles in safe operating condition; Provides snow removal of campus roads, parking lots and walkways
Prepares and retains department records related to Grounds activities
Maintains inventory, and advises Manager of needed repairs for equipment and/or maintenance requirements or purchase needs.
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
Reviews and approves timesheets.
Develops thorough knowledge of departmental operations and procedures
Interprets company policies and enforces safety regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED
Five years of relevant work experience in grounds maintenance
Minimum of two years supervisory experience
Pesticide Application License
Knowledge and experience using maintenance tools and equipment in a facilities environment
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Skills in keyboarding, basic grammar and math, basic level word processing (MS Word) and basic level spreadsheet applications (MS Excel)
Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Valid Ohio Driver’s license and the ability to meet the College’s insurability requirements
Ability to lift and/or move approximately 50 pounds
Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population
Working knowledge of athletic field maintenance, renovations, and irrigation systems
Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System
Experience in Landscape design
Supervisory experience in a union environment
Monday – Friday 6:00a.m. – 2:30p.m.
