Operates boilers and related equipment. Reads meters and gauges at specified intervals. Opens and closes valves and adjusts controls. Checks/monitors operating systems to detect faulty operating equipment. Cleans, maintains and/or lubricates power plant and related auxiliary equipment. Records data and maintains logs on such matters as temperatures, fuel and consumption. Performs related work as required such as, maintaining cleanliness of work area, verifying receipt of fuel, directing fuel deliverers to proper storage areas, attend training programs, and instruct students in the use of electronic equipment, safety measures. Checks and/or monitors air conditioning and/or ventilation systems in order to ensure safe and effective operations. Meets all other requirements in the Classification Specification for Occupational Group 48 revised 10/96. Other duties as assigned.
