Under the direction of the Department Chairperson, teaching responsibilities (12-15 credits per semester) could include: Foundations of Health Education, Principles of Health Education, Human Sexuality, Modifying Health Behaviors, Assessment & Program Implementation and Evaluation, Health & Diversity, and other classes as needed. Provide services to the department, university and community, produce scholarly work, and uphold professional and ethical standards.
Graduation with a doctorate from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals. Must have experience assessing student learning capabilities and learning styles and understand how to develop curriculum of assigned courses.
Doctorate degree in Public Health or Health Education/Promotion. Applicants who are ABD may be considered. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES/MCHES) preferred.
Evidence of involvement in health professional organizations and associations.
Knowledge of public and community health programs and course content.
Knowledge of behavior change theory, program planning models.
Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
Evidence of successful teaching.
Proficiency and use of technology
Evidence of research and scholarly work.
Effective interpersonal, problem solving and decision making skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
