Detailed Job Description

The Department of Justice and Community Studies at Miami University's Regional Campuses seeks to fill a nine-month, assistant professor, tenure-track position in the area of corrections to begin the Fall Semester 2015.


Responsibilities include teaching a variety of courses in corrections and in at least one other area; advising; maintaining a program of scholarship; providing service. The Program seeks a colleague with an entrepreneurial spirit who is interested in contributing to the development of the program, and specifically to the implementation of new curriculum and degree programs. Position may involve teaching at any one of Miami's regional locations but the primary appointment will be to either the Hamilton or Middletown campus.

Basic Qualifications

Ph.D. in criminal justice or a related field, by date of appointment; evidence of expertise in corrections through coursework, research, or experience in the field; evidence of teaching excellence; evidence of ability to maintain a program of high quality scholarship; willingness to apply one's disciplinary expertise in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

Community-based corrections focus; secondary area is open but special attention will be given to applicants who can teach comparative justice systems or race and criminal justice; experience working in community-based corrections; experience teaching in online or hybrid formats; evidence of impactful public service/scholarship.
