The School of Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for one, full-time tenure track Secondary Education faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to begin August 2015. This posting is being used to fill one position in the Secondary Education Department in the School of Education.
Teach 12 semester hours of day and/or evening courses in Secondary Education including instructional methods, foundation courses, multicultural education, and curriculum and management courses for teacher candidates in the Secondary Education licensure program. The candidate must also have a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and school personnel in supervision of clinical experiences and/or student teachers in the field, participate in partnership schools, and have a demonstrated desire to work with a diverse student body including, but not limited to, working adults and students of color to increase student retention and success. The successful candidate will be expected to advise and mentor both undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students in STEM licensure areas.
Scholarly Activities: Engage in scholarship activities appropriate to the discipline.
Service: Provide service to the department, school, university and profession.
Diversity: The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.
ABD in Curriculum and Instruction or education related field.
Completed doctorate in an area of curriculum and/or instruction related to secondary education, preferably working in STEM fields. Three years or more of teaching in grades 6 through 12, preferably in a STEM content area. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching undergraduate courses in multicultural education, instructional methods, classroom management, and foundations of education. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups including outreach to and retention of students of color. Demonstrated intellectual contributions in the fields of fields of curriculum, instruction, teacher preparation, and/ or other related fields. Evidence of collaborating with K-12 schools in partnership activities.
